You open your eyes. There probably is joy around.
If you look hard enough there is even love to be found.
You cherish what you have and all that you seek still
And rejoice that there are opportunities to find and ambitions to fulfil.
Inside you the memories of many a happy day,
Constantly remind you that you’ve come a long way.
And between the fond desires that your heart does own
Lives a wonder that still lies unknown.
I hope then, life causes you to often break into song,
And that happiness causes so many others to sing along.
But once you look beyond what surrounds you,
To the children that don’t have it like we do,
You’ll realize that no success at work or entrepreneurial feat
Or love or joy can ever make your life complete.
For not everyone is born with the good fortune of a clean slate,
And it falls to the emancipated and powerful to educate.
Sure you could just walk away, and life may still treat you well.
Things might seem the same, no one could ever tell.
It is possible that even your conscience fails to rise,
But trust us that would mean you’ve been deceived by your eyes.
Elected representatives fail to deliver the grade,
On the promises that they so earnestly made.
And if you, like us, cannot sit back and quietly see,
So many children failing to be all they could be.
Then listen to the voice within: we cannot waste another day.
There are futures being lost to neglect and delay.
Stand up and be counted and be proud to serve
The destiny that every one of god’s children does deserve.
We may not change the world for the world to see,
But we’ll start the change. So make a difference, Dilli.

Alternate Realities...

Welcome to the official site of MAD (Make a Difference) Dilli
What would a child who is not privileged like us be going through day in and day out?
What it is like to live without education?
The viciousness it puts you through.....
NO WAY OUT
It wakes me up in the morning,
Puts me to the daily grind
I brace myself for monotony
And leave the questions behind.
It tells me to run faster,
faster than the rest
Yet I remain a mediocre
and pass petty tests.
I come home at night
strained and drained
I lie down on my bed
deluding myself into peace
And then I find it lurking at the headrest.
It waits patiently till I go to sleep...
The clock strikes 6:30 and,
It is ready before I am.
Beginning another cycle of monotony
It slaps me across the face.
It is, the rat race.
If the poem rings a cord in you then you're surely in the right place. We are MAD Dilli. We believe that a right to basic English education is for all irrespective of which caste or class they come from. In the modern world where we all live in our bubble , we forget that there are millions like us who are deprived of necessities like education. They spend their childhood in ignorance and lose out on numerous opportunities that could have come their way had they gone to school. We believe that English is a powerful tool in our times. It gives us the confidence to represent ourselves as global citizens. The utility of the language is widespread and therefore it should be made available to everyone so that it can be used as an added advantage.
MAD Dilli is an extension of MAD which is an organization that began in Kochi. MAD proved its metal to the world after having won the STAPLES YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR competition. We in Delhi felt that MAD's presence could be extended to the North and help children learn.
MAD Dilli comprises of five enthusiastic members.
